“Expect Wonders”  |  Anthony Satori

“Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed.  Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders.”

— Henry David Thoreau

Springtime

“Little Bird”  |  Anthony Satori

Today a little bird told me that springtime is here.

He was dressed in his brightest new clothing.

And he had flown to the highest point in his favorite tree.

And then, with all his might, he declared in his loudest voice, “Springtime is here!”

To others, it may have sounded like the tiniest little series of chirps, almost a whisper, so easy to miss.

But I didn’t miss it.

I didn’t miss it, because I was listening.

And because I was listening, I got to hear this little bird’s big soul sing out in joy at the renewal of life.

And because I was watching, I got to see the bright colors of his springtime feathers plume out with pride and delight.

And because I was paying attention, I got to be filled with the happiness, lightness and hope that came from witnessing this little bird’s heart-felt cheer at the start of spring.

Yes, little bird, I feel it, too.

Springtime is here!

“In This Shadow”  |  Anthony Satori

“Imagination is the real and eternal world of which this… universe is but a faint shadow.”

–William Blake

While we are here, however, in this shadow, let us make it as good and as beautiful as we can.

Visitation of Beauty

“Visitation of Beauty”  |  Anthony Satori

One afternoon, a leaf fluttered down from the sky and landed softly on the window of my car.  I remained silent and still, quietly watching as it clung timidly to the edge of the window, simply enjoying its delicate beauty, wondering just how it might have made such an unlikely journey.  After a few moments, I pulled out my camera and took a photograph.  I then looked down, for just a breath, to prepare my camera for another shot.  When I looked up, the leaf was gone.  I hadn’t even seen it go. It had flown away on another gentle breeze, just as quickly and quietly as it had arrived.

Enjoy every moment, my friends.  Find the good in life, every day, and pull it close to your heart.

The Glory of Expression

“The Trumpet Man”  |  Anthony Satori

“The art of art, the glory of expression, and the sunshine of the light of letters, is simplicity.”

— Walt Whitman

A man walked out onto the beach, unpacked his things, and began to play his trumpet.  The sweet, muted tones of his soulful melodies sang out for anyone who would listen.  The place he sat was the same concrete bench that had been there before.  Around him was the same sand, the same lamp post, the same air.  But now, in this space where there had been no music, there was now music.  Now, all the rollerbladers and the volleyball players, the sunbathers and the beachgoers, they all had a soundtrack playing around them.  This is the art of art.  This is the glory of expression.  This is simplicity.
